The creation of 'Fine Lines' began in Germany when Joanna and Vlad met while working at the Friedrichstadt Palast in Berlin.

After completing her education majoring in classical ballet and contemporary dance, Joanna danced professionally in Asia and Europe, including the Moulin Rouge in Paris. As well as her move from dance to circus art, Joanna has spent recent years cultivating her voice, and hopes to integrate her singing into an aerial act.

Vlad's career as an acrobatic base has also taken him around the world, even as a student where as a member of the Ukraine's National Acrobatic Team, he placed well in major international competitions including first place over all at the Jnr European Championships 1998, Denmark, and in the top three at the European Championships in 1999, Poland, and at the World Championships in 1998, Belarus, and in 1999, Belgium. Vlad toured Australia with 'More than Dance', a troupe of dancers and acrobats from the Ukraine, before going to Germany to work at the Friedrichstadt where he and Joanna began their work together. The pair is largely self-taught and created all the current Fine Lines acts themselves.
